Our Politicians Working To Save The Planet

Those of us who are opposed to the "cap and trade"  legislation passed by the House and due for consideration by the Senate are demonized as enemies of efforts to save our planet. We are said to be opposed to cleaner air! Certainly no one could be opposed to the "legitamacy" of this proposed solution to cleaning up the environment.

Perhaps one of these economic professors, engineers, or elected "experts" on the environment could take the time to explain just how this legislation would actually lower the emission of these harmful gases into the atmosphere.

As I see it, if we tax those companies who exceed their government approved emissions they will simply perceive the tax as an additional cost of doing business and raise their prices accordingly. Guess what that means, you and I will pay a lot more for things like gas and electricity. It will cost us more to stay warm. The other alternative is to sell permits to allow businesses to "trade"  some of their unused emissions to those who need more. Only a politician would really think this would serve to lower emissions! In any case the end result would seem to be the same or greater polution of the environment at a higher cost which would simply be passed on to you know who.

But surely our government would apply all of that additional tax revenue to new technologies  to save our environment..........and if you believe that I have some......
